Earthing: The Most Important Health Discovery Ever?
Earthing: The Most Important Health Discovery Ever? by Clint Ober, Stephen Sinatra, and Martin Zucker discussed the concept of earthing an alternative method of health care. Earthing is a relatively simple concept based on electronics. Complex electronic systems need to be grounded (connected electronically to the earth) in order to function properly. The human body is no different. It needs to be grounded in order to operate in its top condition.
Human bodies are earthed in the same way that equipment is grounded. An electrical connection is made between the skin of the person and the ground/earth. People tend to run low on electrons so the ground replenishes the device/body as a source of electrons. The body can be earthed most simply by touching the ground with your bare feet or another convenient body part. It can also be done more conveniently by touching a conductive pad attached to a grounded outlet.
The key method through which the extra electrons improve your health is by reducing inflammation. The body’s inflammatory process creates a lot of unbalanced positively charged particles which cause damage if they are not neutralized. The ready supply of electrons allows the positively charged particles to be dealt with more quickly making it easier for the body to heal. The reduced amount of inflammation is often noticed through the reduction of many symptoms: lowered blood pressure, better sleep, reduced diabetes, no bed sores, less PMS, and a multitude of other symptoms. (Inflammation is behind many different disorders, and earthing helps all of them.)
I am unconvinced about earthing. I have tried earthing but haven’t noticed any health improvements. However, I have not carried out all of the steps recommended by Clint Ober. I do not have a grounded outlet in my bedroom, so I have not slept grounded. One is supposed to notice a large improvement in sleep from grounding. (This is one of the primary examples to show grounding works).
However, I have sat grounded at my work occasionally. I have noticed a tingling in my feet when they first touch the earthing pad. I also find that I really enjoy walking barefoot in parks. Touching the ground or even the floor with my bare feet just makes me feel better.
Earthing is an interesting concept. I remain undecided for now about whether it works, but I will try to ground myself as frequently as possible.
